Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire a Professional Organizer?

A Professional Organizer brings all their training, expertise, and experiences to your project. They have an objective eye for your situation. In addition, a Professional Organizer will collaborate with you to organize your space to meet your needs and goals. They will create a custom plan for you to maintain your space, and check in with you to see how it is working for you. A Professional Organizer is an expert, mentor, coach, teacher, motivator to help you achieve your goals for your home.

What is the process in working with a Professional Organizer?

After the initial contact, there will be an in-home assessment where you and the Professional Organizer will review the areas in your home that you feel need attention. From there the Professional Organizer will create a proposal based on your needs and goals, with an estimate of time required and a list of suggested containers, and resources needed to complete your project. After the proposal is accepted the work of organizing begins. Generally, you and the Professional Organizer work together at this point in the project. Once a space is organized you will be left with a plan to maintain it. The Professional Organizer will follow up several days and then again a couple of weeks after the project has been completed to see how the system is working for you.

Will I have to get rid of all my things?

Certainly not all of your things – however, it is much easier to organize a space when there are fewer things. A Professional Organizer is respectful of you, your belongings, and of the meaning attached to many of your belongings. You and I together will work to determine what things support your goals and meet your needs and what things may need to be stored elsewhere, donated or discarded. Always keep in mind the end goal is to create a space that functions for you.

Will my privacy be protected?

Yes, absolutely. I honor the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals Code of Ethics which in part states:

  • I will serve my clients with integrity, competence, and objectivity, and will treat them with respect and courtesy.
  • I will keep confidential all client information, both business and personal, including that which may be revealed by other professional organizers and productivity consultants.
  • I will keep all client information confidential and will not use it to benefit myself or my firm, or reveal this information to others.
Will my space look like those on Pinterest, Instagram, HGTV, or the magazines?

That in large part is dependent on your goals and your budget – A Professional Organizer is tasked with helping you create a space that is aesthetically pleasing but most importantly functions to meet your goals for living in the space.
